Job Description

Location: Atlanta, GA area - hybrid schedule
Compensation : $120k - $140k base + variable compensation
Benefits:  Full medical, dental, vision, and 401k

We are assisting a well-established and growing freight brokerage that is looking for a Vice President of their Agent Program to their team. This is a ground-up build. You will have full ownership of the agent channel: recruiting, onboarding, development, retention, and platform infrastructure. You will report directly to the President and CFO, have direct access to ownership, and be resourced to execute. The right person is a builder who adds productive agents year after year; someone who brings one book and stops there is not the fit.

Responsibilities:

  • Personally source, recruit, and sign independent freight agents who meet the company’s quality and margin standards
  • Build a repeatable sourcing engine across referrals, direct outreach, industry events, and digital campaigns
  • Move signed agents to active freight quickly: agreements, compliance and insurance, systems access, carrier setup, and first loads
  • Coach agents on growing their book and protecting margin; help them win new customers with introductions, pricing support, and proposals
  • Monitor agent performance, remove back-office friction, and keep productive agents active and in good standing
  • Work an existing applicant pipeline and manage recruiting activity in CRM
  • Partner with operations, carrier sales, credit, and accounting so the back office works for agents
  • Report agent division performance to ownership against a defined scorecard
  • Build out the full recruiting infrastructure in year one: recruiting playbook and SOPs, agent onboarding program and documentation, CRM workflow, marketing and recruiting collateral, agent performance dashboard, KPI reporting, agent referral program, and training curriculum for new agents

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in 3pl logistics
  • Prior experience building or materially growing an independent agent program
  • Background in flatbed, heavy haul, or specialized freight is a plus
  • Fluent in establishing competitive commission splits, agent agreements, and back-office support (credit, billing, carrier setup, compliance, and insurance)
  • Active network of independent Freight Agents and a repeatable method for sourcing new ones
  • Ability to build playbooks, implement CRM workflows, and report on recruiting KPIs
  • Comfortable helping agents win and close new shipper business when needed
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, ZoomInfo, or digital recruiting campaigns preferred
