Job Description

Merck seeks a Utility Technician - Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain building utility systems at their West Point, Pennsylvania facility. The role involves managing water treatment, steam, compressed air, and cooling systems while ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain building utility systems including chillers, cooling towers, water treatment units, and steam generators
• Respond to utility alarms and perform emergency repairs to ensure continuous system operation
• Conduct routine testing and chemical treatment of water and cooling systems to maintain specified parameters
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility equipment and document all work activities through work orders
• Coordinate and assign work to general workers and maintenance personnel as business needs require

Requirements

• Stationary engineer license or equivalent certification in utility systems operation
• Experience operating and maintaining industrial water treatment and steam systems
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and pharmaceutical facility compliance standards
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and control monitoring equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical utility equipment
• Strong documentation and record-keeping skills in regulated environments
