Job Description

Pfizer seeks a Director to lead state policy and government relations efforts across Iowa, Minnesota, and additional states. The role combines policy development—including legislative analysis and strategic positioning—with government relations activities to advance the company's healthcare policy objectives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as enterprise subject matter expert and accountability point for designated state policy portfolio
• Develop and implement coordinated state policy positions and strategies aligned with business objectives
• Analyze and communicate short- and long-term implications of legislative and regulatory developments
• Develop policy materials including legislative language, backgrounders, testimony, and talking points
• Monitor state legislation and regulations; identify and analyze emerging political and policy issues in assigned geography

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum 8 years state policy or related experience; 7+ years with master's/MBA; 5+ years with PhD, JD, or PharmD
• Significant background in state healthcare policy and government relations
• Demonstrated ability to analyze legislative and regulatory proposals and translate into business recommendations
• Strong understanding of state governmental processes, healthcare policy, and political environments
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including policy document drafting
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, associations, policymakers, and legislators
