Job Description

A Daycare Assistant supports early childhood care in a licensed childcare setting in Queens. This role helps create a safe, organized, and engaging environment for infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children during the day. Typical duties include supervising children during play and routine activities, assisting with meals and snacks, helping with basic hygiene and diapering when needed, preparing classroom materials, tidying learning areas, and following established health and safety procedures. The assistant may also help with arrival and departure routines, maintain accurate headcounts, and communicate observations to lead staff. Baseline qualifications usually include prior childcare or classroom support experience, strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to follow directions and work well with others. Familiarity with child supervision standards and comfort staying attentive in a fast-paced environment are important. Physical demands can include standing, walking, bending, and lifting young children or classroom items. The schedule is full time and may include daytime hours that align with center operations.
